Good morning everyone, a real quick one for you today as the day is jam packed with things to do.
We have the early kick off today against Warri Wolves as the Super -4 Invitational tourney enters its Match Day 2. Having been beaten and battered by the Flying Eagles on Saturday, we hope to see a much improved performance against a side severely lacking match fitness as we are.
Warri Wolves themselves were beaten by the Dream Team and it was their striker Austine Amutu called up by Samson Siasia who netted the opener against them. I was thinking he will not celebrate like some players do in Europe but not only did he celebrate, it was one of the wildest I’ve seen in the competition so far. If you don’t celebrate a goal you score in the Nigerian League, the referee may take a cue from you and not award the goal, so your wisdom is to celebrate as wildly as possible. I saw a game one time where a player scored, ran off to the right corner flag to celebrate, another player ran in the opposite direction celebrating too and no one knew who scored the goal. Anyway I think I’m digressing.
I think most of the players who started on Saturday would start today as Kadiri Ikhana gives an indication of what his preferred eleven will look like. The reality is that we don’t have a lot of time to get ready for the Champions League and I pray we find our cohesion and match fitness pretty soon because it would be disaster if we don’t deliver this year in the Champions League.
Ejiogu may not start in goal after playing all ninety against Manu Garba’s men. One of either Anaemena and Uche John may not feature too as Emma Anyanwu should get a start this afternoon.
It will be played in the 1 pm Abuja Sun and it may not be fun for the players but it will do them good in the long run.
We should win this one but getting our rhythm and cohesion is all important at the moment.
The game is live on SuperSport 9 and if your boss won’t fire you, enjoy the game otherwise you can depend on our tweets and that of the @LMCNPFL.
Great day guys.
