Happy Friday everyone…
Now that was fast wasn’t it? Friday already. This was indeed a very short week. Wasn’t it only yesterday that we were trashing Buffles at the Enyimba Stadium and look it’s Friday already!
Today we kickstart what could be a weekly column on our blog. It’s titled UP AND CLOSE WITH OUR PLAYERS. It means exactly what it sounds like. An opportunity to know one or two details about our players. Today we start with the one who got our first goal of the season. Etor Daniel.
Daniel Essien Etor is an attacking midfielder or winger who plays for Enyimba International of Aba.
Born May 5, 1993, Daniel is an origin of Uyo Itam in Akwa Ibom State. He joined the club in 2013. He got under our radar during his days at Niger Tornadoes where he was one of the hottest properties in the Nigerian League. So good was he that four Premier League clubs were fighting for his signature. Well, Enyimba being Enyimba, we got our man. We sent him on loan to Akwa United the first season where he got himself ready before joining the first team subsequently.
An attacking midfielder comfortable on both flanks, Etor is a hardworking player and is a danger from set pieces. A good example was at the super -4 invitational tournament where his Freekick from just outside the area cannoned against the woodwork.
Etor scored his first goal for Enyimba last season against Sunshine Stars in a 2-0 drubbing at the Enyimba Stadium, and has already gotten his first goal this season in last Sunday’s Champions League encounter against Buffles du Borgou of Benin Republic.
Despite having represented Nigeria in the Under-20 and having trained with the senior team a couple of times, Etor has yet to feature for the Super Eagles.
We wish Etor Daniel a great season with Enyimba International.
