Buffles promise to upturn deficit.

Good morning Guys,

Every morning itches us closer and closer to the second leg of our Champions League clash. Today is Thursday and from what I gather we should be leaving the country Tomorrow. For a game I learnt (from the CAF site) that should be played on Saturday, I don’t know why we should leave a day before. Unless of course the game will be played Sunday or the club officials have deemed it in the club’s best interest to have the team come in just a day before. Let’s trust that they don’t get tired like the Buffles guys who one of them claimed that was what led to a poor showing in Aba ten days ago.

“That scoreline is not too much bad because we were in bad condition here. We were supposed to be here since Thursday. We just came yesterday, we are too tired. Our Federation did not organize us well. We are in a bad situation so we just came here to try our luck”

On upturning the deficit;
“There is no problem with that. If not because of these referees, you see what is happening in the field. We can beat them (Enyimba). I promise you we will progress to the next stage”.

Such assertions are the perfect warning we need as we head into the weekend fixture and I believe the team should approach this with the seriousness and diligence it requires. Throwing away a three nil lead will be unforgivable.

Yesterday we played a goalless draw with Gateway Stars in our final warm up match ahead of the trip. Do we call that a sign of things to expect at the weekend? We trashed Abia Warriors 4-0 before our 3-0 win over Buffles so maybe this could be a dress rehearsal for another draw at the weekend. I believe that any kind of draw (0-0, 3-3, 7-7, 12-12, 15-15) at their place would do us just fine.

Like Coach Tams said on the blog yesterday, everything still depends on adhering to the pattern of play and instructions of the manager. We should be going through this one seamlessly.

It’s hard to ignore the news streaming out from the Warri Wolves Camp where the players boycotted training couple of days ago because of unpaid salaries and ahead of a high profile game as this, that is worrying. Player Salaries is a serious issue in our football and one that the LMC is fighting all they can to make it go away. I still believe that if we twitch the way our clubs are managed, generating funds from the fans and not the government, we can put paid to some of these issues.

We’ll have a ‘Know our Players’ column for you tomorrow and a match preview for you on Saturday. I also hope to get some comment from one of our senior players tomorrow.

Have a great day guys,

‘EnyimbaEnyi.
