Match Preview: Nasarawa United vs Enyimba

Good morning Everyone.

It’s another matchday but it’s also on a Sunday which means you get a three minutes preview. 🙂 Sorry.

We line up this evening against Nasarawa United, a side we Chima Akased at our place 2 weeks ago. Surely it’s a different side compared to the one we faced last year but this is also a strong and committed side and this being the second half of the season, teams tend to step up their game.

Fresh from the defeat in Bauchi, the team would be looking to make amends but this would be a very stern test because, Nasarawa United looks a victim of their Continental campaign. They are one of the few teams that were unable to pick any kind of point away from home in the first half of the season and their current League position isn’t looking good. 16th.

The League is tighter than ever and teams would keep swapping positions every week so every away point is so precious. There are 6 points separating the League leaders and the team placed 13. So realistically you would think anyone of those teams in between can actually win the title this season. What am I even saying? 19th placed Ikorodu United just needs to win three away games and they will be fighting for a Continental ticket.

Our title defense truly starts here. In addition to a flawless home record, we need to go some unbeaten stretch once again if we really want to win the title again this season. Every game has this cup final tag to it, unless we want to ease off and hand the title to the Wikki Tourists, Rivers United, Kano Pillars and the other contenders surrounding us.

This game is played in Makurdi, not in Lafia but then again, Nasarawa United beat Lobi Stars the owners of the stadium when they met at that stadium some weeks ago. We would have to be up for it, it seems then.

Chances would be few for us obviously so our strikers must earn their money. In addition to taking the chances that come their way, they must also help out with the defensive work. We were ten minutes from a point in Bauchi, I hope we are able to see it out in Makurdi today.

It’s my dad’s 72nd birthday today. I celebrate him knowing it’s not easy fathering someone as troublesome as I am. I’m a handful guys. May God bless him continually. Amen.

All the best to the lads. Updates from 4pm.

More from me tomorrow
