Less and less talk, some action needed

Good morning Everyone, our trip to Lokoja posted similar results as our last time there. 1-0 win for the hosts and our abysmal poor away continues. Unlike our last away trip, we couldn’t hold out till late in the game, by the 20th minute we were already behind.

To be honest, I hoped and expected that we would get a good result here and looking at our lineup, it did look like we were going for it. Chukwude and Leonard led the line while Mfon, Adebogun and Dimgba trotted nicely behind them. It did look good albeit only on paper.

From updates courtesy of the LMC and the club’s official handle, there wasn’t much joy for us save a few Chima Akas free kicks that were fended off nicely by our hosts. The update said we fell behind courtesy of a defensive gaffe. As one who didn’t see the game, there’s really no sense laying blames or accusing anyone.

The worry however is that with the calibre of fixtures just ahead, you wonder where we would get the break from. By break of course I mean, when our away fortunes would change? You’re looking back at that Abia Warriors game and think perhaps we missed a chance of getting the ‘easiest’ three points in the road.

But we would keep up the search, won’t we? If we are looking to challenge for the title or at best get into the Contiental slots, then our home invincibility has to be kept intact while we seek for some away points in the days ahead. Trouble is, these away points are easiest in the first half of the League season.

Think for a minute. In our title winning campaign, we lost just six times on the road. That’s only a third of our away games. We either drew or won the others. Even at that too, we bit our fingers on the penultimate game of the season as we drew with Wolves in Aba.

Winning the title or getting the Continental ticket is not our birthright as some post on social media claimed last week. If we need any of those admirable places, we would need to do more than talk. We have to show reciprocal action.

That’s all we can chew on the blog this morning. Have a great week.

Back tomorrow,
