Match Preview; Enyimba vs Shooting Stars

Good morning Guys. Happy New Month and welcome to another MatchDay. Shooting Stars of Ibadan, Uncle Ogunbote’s former club are our newest guests at the UJ Esuene. For them it is a chance to better their poor position on the log while for us, it’s an opportunity for bounce back from last weekend’s heartbreaking defeat.

Many talked of the perceived injustice in the officiating of that Lobi game but there’s no point talking about it here on the blog because from the thousands of miles that is from where I’m at, I can’t even prove any of such. Most important theme this evening is ensuring we are back to winning ways.

For Stars, they haven’t had the best of starts to the season. They sit pretty much near the troubled places and that want helped by the very recent 1-1 draw with struggling Remo Stars. That statement has its warning imbibed in it already- a team tagged ‘struggling’ is just the perfect one to shock you at ‘home’!

Recent visits to our Aba ground has seen them nearly leave with something in the bag. It took a late penalty a few years ago to earn us a win and in a couple of years later, they leveled things from a goal down before we fetched (Udoji I think) all three points. Point is, this isn’t an opposition or a game we should take for granted.

Ogunbote would be looking to recall our two highest goal scorers so far this season. Ibrahim Mustapha got injured as we prepared for the Tornadoes game. He sat out Lobi’s game at the weekend but you will be backing on him to get back into the action this evening.

The other would be captain fantastic, Mfon Udoh who also didn’t take part in the weekend defeat. He like Mustapha would be looking to get back into the goal action. Beyond of course rising in the goalscoring records, it’s about three more points we can add to our placement on the table.

In view of the upcoming weekend heavyweight clash in Kano, we just need a good bedrock performance this evening. No game is ever easy, you just need to be switched on from start to finish. Let’s hope the boys are prepared mentally for this one.

Live updates will be at the various available channels. Check @LMCNPFL or the club’s handle.
